A taste of generations past – reinvented

What did Warsaw taste like 100 years ago? And what does it taste like today? Can the iconic wuzetka cake be reimagined with pistachios? Could tripe soup go vegan? Hala Koszyki is asking Varsovians to explore these ideas and reinterpret classic dishes through the lens of today’s trends. Leading the project is Mateusz Gessler, chef and restaurateur behind Warszawski Sen and Ćma at Koszyki.

Show us how your Warsaw tastes

Until August 24, cooking enthusiasts can enter the contest solo or in small teams. To participate, share a video or photos of your modern take on a classic Warsaw dish via TikTok, Instagram or Facebook, using the hashtags #Koszyki and #NowaKartaWarszawy.

The top twelve entries will advance to a live cooking final held in September at the on-site culinary studio “Pracownia Kulinarna.” A jury led by Mateusz Gessler will select the winners. Prizes include gift vouchers worth PLN 1,000, 800 and 500 to RTV EURO AGD, with all finalists receiving restaurant vouchers to selected Koszyki venues.

A seasonal menu rooted in Warsaw’s soul

The most outstanding reinterpretations will become part of the New Warsaw Menu – a seasonal culinary offering that blends tradition with creativity. Alongside the contest winners, the chefs of Koszyki restaurants will contribute their own inspired creations, merging their culinary identity with classic Warsaw flavors.

“We hope that our New Warsaw Menu, shaped by creative reinterpretations of traditional recipes, will give both locals and visitors even more reasons to return to Koszyki,” says Piotr Krowicki, Senior Marketing Manager at Globalworth Poland.

More than food – a full cultural season ahead

Under the New Warsaw Menu brand, Koszyki will also host a summer full of inspiration beyond the plate. Expect live music, new culinary concepts, and cultural events that enrich Warsaw’s urban rhythm.

Details of the contest, including the full regulations, can be found at koszyki.com in the "What’s On" section, and on Hala Koszyki’s social media channels.
