Spark C, the office building located in the Wola district of Warsaw, has just received one of the most demanding certificates – the WELL Core & Shell Certification. After obtaining WELL Certification for the commercial interior, granted to the office space on the 5th floor in Spark, the entire core and shell of the building has now been deemed a healthy and comfortable place to work. This is the first such distinction in Poland and the second in the CEE region after the Visionary office building in Prague achieved WELL Core & Shell Certification, which was also developed by Skanska.

- This is another key step for us towards our strategy, according to which we set the trends in terms of quality of the office market projects in Poland. For many years, our projects have been synonymous with top-class green architecture and we’re now striving to meet the WELL Certification requirements. Obtaining WELL Core & Shell Certification for the entire Spark building opens a new chapter for us. The certificate is a proof that we have adapted the space for needs of people and created for them the healthiest work environment on the market. It also confirms that the user of our offices is the most important in Skanska's projects. This is a great distinction and strengthening our company’s position as a leader in the field of innovative and sustainable development - comments Arkadiusz Rudzki, Managing Director at Skanska office unit in Poland. - All our investments that are at the design stage will take the WELL Building Standard into account and apply for this certificate. The Generation Park Z and Y in Warsaw, the next stage of the Nowy Rynek in Poznan, Centrum Południe in Wroclaw and Wave in Gdansk will be the next buildings to pursue WELL Core & Shell Certification – says Arkadiusz Rudzki.

- Skanska’s leadership and commitment to driving the WELL movement forward in Poland and throughout the region is reflected in its latest WELL Certified building in Warsaw,” said IWBI Chairman and CEO Rick Fedrizzi. “Congratulations to Skanska for achieving WELL Core & Shell Certification at Spark C and for its market-leading efforts to develop the highest quality buildings that support human health and enable employees and visitors alike to thrive - concluded Rick Fedrizzi.

Spark was the first to pass the test

The WELL Building Standard, developed and delivered by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), is a certification system that assesses over 100 building features in terms of their impact on people's health and physical and mental well-being by measuring the quality of office space. It is a holistic approach to the health, well-being and the comfort of users of office buildings, and a complement to green building standards.

The five floors of the Spark office building, occupied by the Skanska group, also received the LEED Commercial Interior (LEED CI) certificate at the Platinum level with the outstanding score – 90 points, the most in Central and Eastern Europe. Thus, the building already has five certificates - in addition to WELL Core & Shell, WELL New & Existing Interiors, LEED C&S and LEED CI, the building also holds the Building without Barriers certificate, awarded by the Integration Foundation.
